We’re going on a treasure hunt! And what is the treasure? The treasure is the amazing opportunity to know, to love, and to be filled with the Spirit of the Living God. Unroll the treasure map. Let’s get started!

In Year One will travel through the Biblical narrative beginning with The Creation, watching the calling of Abraham as God made for Himself a people, examining the lives of real people as they chose to obey or disobey their God, watching their deliverance from slavery in Egypt, learning to understand the significance of the sacrifice lamb, walking with God’s people as they take their promised land, learning through the successes and failures of the judges and kings, hearing God’s words from the lips of the prophets as He prepares His people for the coming Messiah.

In Year Two we will go adventuring with the kings and prophets. Some, who have everything, throw it all away as they turn to idols and self-indulgence. Others go through tremendous hardship, but continue to use their lives to display the glory of God. Experience the consequences of disobedience and idolatry as God’s people are captured and removed from their land. Be awed by God’s comforting words of forgiveness and restoration to a repentant people. Children will be inspired as they walk with Esther into the throne room, with Daniel into the den of lions, and with Nehemiah as he examines the ruins of Jerusalem. Hear prophetic voices speak through the centuries, pointing to a coming Messiah.

In Year Three we are finally introduced to the long awaited Messiah. We will follow Him down dusty roads, gasping as He heals the sick, watching in awe as He commands a storm to be still, smiling through tears as He brings a dead child to life. We will see some who chose to believe transformed forever, and others never allowing themselves to be changed by His grace and love. We will sit with the crowds and be challenged as He teaches with an authority, not heard before. We will hide our faces on the mountain as He momentarily sheds His human disguise and reveals Himself. We will struggle to comprehend as He forgives the accused, holds children on His lap, and deliberately heads down the road toward Jerusalem.

In Year Four we see God’s long awaited plan of salvation unfold as we watch Jesus choosing the way of the cross, rising in triumph from the grave, and ascending to His Father. We will witness the birth of His body, the church, and then follow in the footsteps of the apostles as they fan out across the known world carrying the good news of Jesus. But God’s Story does not end with the book of Acts. Through the centuries God’s Spirit has continued to bring salvation, hope, light, and truth to the world. As children learn the deep truths found in the Epistles, they will be inspired by the stories of great Christians from around the world who lived after the first century. Explore with your children the questions: What does it mean to say that Jesus lives in me? What changes when He lives in me? How will my thoughts, actions, and relationships change? How can I know what is true? Use this curriculum to help students learn to walk in the power that God offers to all His children – young and old.

As we take our children on this journey through God’s Word, our purpose is much more than information; it is to use this treasure map of God’s Word to help them find the priceless treasure of meeting God, learn to hear His voice, and mature in their daily life with Him.
